In China and Vietnam tens-of-thousands of bears are kept on bile farms where they are regularly "milked" for their bile. The Bile is extracted using various painful, invasive techniques to be used in traditional medicine as well as ordinary household products. Farmed bears are kept in cages so small that they are unable to turn around or stand on all fours and may remain caged for up to 30 years.  Most farmed bears are starved, dehydrated and suffer from multiple diseases and malignant tumors that ultimately kill them.

Peace by Piece is Animals Asia’s new landmark campaign to help rescue and rehabilitate over 130 moon bears from a bile farm in Nanning China.  Animals Asia is taking over custody and care of the bears, leasing the land and facilities.  This is the largest rescue of its kind in the world and, with your support, these bears will be given the freedom and sanctuary they deserve.
