Issue

Due to the intolerance of Montana's powerful livestock industry, the state and federal governments are engaged in a policy of slaughtering buffalo when they follow their migratory instincts across the Yellowstone boundary and into Montana. During the winter of 2007-2008, more than 1,600 buffalo were killed in the largest slaughter of wild buffalo since the 19th century.

Response

Buffalo Field Campaign is the only group working both in the field and in the policy arenas to stop the harassment and slaughter of America’s last wild buffalo, the buffalo of Yellowstone National Park, considered by many to be a living national treasure.
