Center for Great Apes
The Center for Great Apes is a non-profit sanctuary located in Florida, dedicated to providing lifelong care for orangutans and chimpanzees rescued from the entertainment industry, research facilities, and exotic pet trade. Founded in 1993, the sanctuary is committed to promoting the welfare of great apes and advocating for their protection in the wild. The Center is still the only accredited orangutan sanctuary in all of North, South, and Central America and currently cares for 27 orangutan and 39 chimpanzee residents. Over the years, the Center has helped rescue and provide care for over 85 great apes.
