Issue

Many years of war in South-Kivu DR Congo, has fuelled the illegal wildlife trade. Primates are killed and eaten, orphans kept and sold as pets in horrible circumstances. The authorities are confiscating more and more animals, but they need a place to go. Centre de Rehabilitation des Primates de Lwiro (CRPL) is that place for rescue, rehabilitation and release.

CRPL is the only sanctuary in the DRC that takes in all kinds of animals! Situated in the conflict province of South-Kivu, we do difficult and dangerous work in close harmony with local communities. Not only rescue and rehabilitation, but also education, community development and collaboration, are the core values of CRPL. Together we fight the illegal wildlife trade and work to save animals and species.
