Domestic rabbits are frequently purchased as companion animals with little consideration for the care they require.  When those rabbits are eventually abandoned at shelters they are often incorrectly deemed to be ‘unadoptable’ due to age, health or disposition and face euthanasia without being given a fair chance at life.

House Rabbit Society, through an established fostering network, rescues abandoned rabbits and finds permanent adoptive homes for them.  Through education, HSR seeks to reduce the number of unwanted rabbits and to improve bunnies’ lives by helping people better understand these often misunderstood companion animals.
